webMail

The School of Computer Science offers users with a Computer Science mailbox access to their email through a web-based email client. (This service is not, however, available to users who have opted for legacy mail spool delivery or users with mailboxes hosted outside Computer Science.)

webMail should only be used to access SoCS email accounts from remote locations - i.e. it should NOT be used from within the School as webMail is relatively resource heavy and does not offer the same level of functionality or stability as a dedicated email client.

Accessing webMail
Go to https://webmail.cs.bham.ac.uk
(NB. webMail runs on a secure server, so the URL starts https not http)

If you have not installed the School's site security certificate, you will be asked to accept or reject the webMail server's security certificate. You will also be given the option to view/examine the certificate if you wish. For more information on the SoCS certificate click here.
At the login prompt, enter your username and password.
